Gemeinsam gegen jeden Antisemitismus! #KeinQudsTag in Wien
Saturday, Juni 1, 2019, Afternoon Leopoldsbrunnen, Graben 1010 Vienna

Maximum pressure on the Iranian regime is needed to counter the dangers of Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, the continued threats against Israel, Iran’s aggressive expansionist policies in the region and against the brutal oppression of the Iranian people and their struggle for freedom. The coalition STOP THE BOMB is working for an isolation of the Iranian regime and for support of the Iranian opposition. Europe’s Iran policy has proven to be illusory. It neither succeeded in improving the situation in Iran, nor in the region. Rally against Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Vienna
Wednesday, July 4, 2018, Vienna

Press release, July 2, 2018: No Red Carpet for Rohani! STOP THE BOMB protests in Vienna #RouhaniNotWelcome: Demonstrations against the reception of Iranian President by Van der Bellen, Kurz and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber Under the motto #RouhaniNotWelcome the Coalition STOP THE BOMB organizes two demonstrations on 4 July against the Iranian President’s visit to Vienna, who was also blisteringly criticized by the Wiesenthal Center in Jerusalem. At 10 am there will be a demonstration at Maria-Theresien-Platz against the reception of Rohani by the Austrian Federal President, Alexander Van der Bellen and the Federal Chancellor, Sebastian Kurz. The academic director of STOP THE BOMB, Stephan Grigat: “To meet with Rohani does not strengthen purported ‘moderate forces’ in Iran, but the antisemitic terror regime of the ‘Islamic Republic’ at large.” The second demonstration by STOP THE BOMB will take place at 5 pm at the street corner Wiedner Hauptstraße/Johan Strauß-Gasse. It is against Rohani being received by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. Grigat: “Rohani’s appearance at the Economic Chamber shows that Austria wants to continue the disastrous tradition to act, via business with the Ajatollahs and the Revolutionary Guards, as a stirrup holder for a regime that openly threatens Israel with annihilation, that finances Islamist terror groups like Hezbollah, and that, also under Rohani, organizes conferences and cartoon contests for Holocaust denial.” The demonstrations are directed against the European appeasement towards the Iranian Regime. The organizers demand solidarity with the democratic and secular opposition both in Iran and in exile, as well as with Israel. Besides STOP THE BOMB, also the Green and Alternative Student Union, the Jewish Austrian Student Union and the Democratic Student Union of Iranian Kurdistan support the demonstrations.

Against Courting the Iranian Regime in Vienna http://at.stopthebomb.net/index.php?id=358&L=1&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=3276&cHash=a578136671931cb6e26a2a1bd7fe9a89 STOP THE BOMB reiterates criticism of Iranian President Rouhani's visit to Austria
The coalition STOP THE BOMB reiterates criticism of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's visit to Austria, which has meanwhile been confirmed for 4 July 2018. The academic director of STOP THE BOMB, Stephan Grigat: "To meet with Rouhani means to legitimize a regime that openly threatens Israel with annihilation."
It is only three weeks ago that Iran's "supreme leader" Ali Khamenei again named Israel a "cancerous tumor" that "has to be eradicated". Also Rouhani called Israel a "festering" and a "cancerous tumor". The regime under Rouhani pursues a massive expansion in the region and further supports Islamist terror organizations at the borders to Israel, like Hezbollah and Hamas. Besides that, under Rouhani considerably more people were executed in Iran than under his predecessor.
Grigat: "If Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz' avowal to Israel's security shall be more than mere rhetoric, he has to pile pressure on the Iranian regime, instead of offering its president a platform in Vienna. What is needed is a profound change in the Austrian and European Iran Policy."

According to media reports, the Iranian regime demanded ahead of the visit that Austria ban our demonstrations, which was rejected by the Austrian authorities citing freedom of assembly.
As there is currently no information when the reception of the Iranian regime in Austria will take place, we are planning our demonstration for the day X.
>>> No red carpet for the Iranian regime!
>>> No deals with Holocaust deniers!
Call for a demonstration Hassan Rouhani is not a "moderate bearer of hope" but the friendly face of terror. Under his presidency more people have been executed per year in Iran than under his predecessor Ahmadinejad. The Iranian regime is heavily investing in its military buildup and is financing anti-Semitic terrorist organizations like Hezbollah and Hamas. In Rouhani’s and Khamenei’s Iran, there are state-sponsored festivals for Holocaust denial, homosexuals are threatened by the death penalty, women are brutally oppressed and the annihilation threats against Israel are repeated all the time. In Iran's war for Syria's Assad hundreds of thousands people have already been killed. By rolling out the red carpet for the Iranian President, and by doing business with the regime of ayatollahs, Austrian President Heinz Fischer and European companies legitimize and finance hate and agitation against Israel, homophobia and Islamist terror!

Together against any form of anti-Semitism! #NoQudsDay in Vienna http://at.stopthebomb.net/index.php?id=357&L=1&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=3214&cHash=92b29b44f6c6e455b3ecf119a2d5cfce Rally on June 24th, Start 3pm, Mariahilfer Straße/Bundesländerplatz
The protest rally "Together against any form of antisemitism! #NoQudsDay in Vienna" is organized by the broad Alliance against Quds-Day in Vienna and will take place on June 24th. Info desk & rally
Saturday, 24 June 2017, 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Speeches start 3:30
Mariahilfer Straße, Bundesländer Platz (Corner Neubaugasse/Amerlingstraße)
Here is the call and a list of supporting groups and indiviuals: Shortly after the "Islamic Revolution" in Iran in 1979, Ayatollah Khomeini introduced the so-called "Quds Day" as an anti-Semitic and anti-Israel hate fest in Iran and worldwide. „Al Quds“ means Jerusalem in Arabic and under the slogan of the "liberation of Jerusalem from Zionist occupation" the Iranian regime and its allies mobilize for the annihilation of Israel.

A gender-segregated demonstration led by mullahs follows this call every year in Vienna and openly spreads anti-Semitic propaganda in public. In the past the organizers posted cartoons in the social media that called for the murder of Jews and disseminated anti-Semitic conspiracy theories by claiming that Israel would "breed" the "Islamic State". The Austrian Ministry of Interior registered Hezbollah and jihad flags as well as anti-Semitic banners saying "Boycott the 4th Reich, Zionists = Nazis" and depicting a Star of David mutating into a swastika.

The central goal of the Iranian regime - Israel's annihilation - has not changed since 1979. The allegedly "moderate" Hassan Rouhani calls Israel a "festering tumor". In a missile test in March 2016, Iranian long-range ballistic missiles were marked with "Israel must be wiped out". The Iranian regime boasts about financing Hezbollah and Palestinian terror against Israel.

Subject to the regime's bloody terror are also those Iranians who wish to evade the regimentation of their lives by the regime - be it political activists, unionists, homosexuals, religious minorities or just simply young people who want to live their lives in self-determination and without the Sharia's constant coercion. Under Rouhani more people have been executed than under his predecessor Ahmadinejad. Iran has the highest number of executions per capita worldwide.

It is a scandal that Austria is still at the forefront when it comes to doing business with the henchmen in Tehran. Austrian politicians and companies are cozying up to the regime while their Iranian hosts organize even more Holocaust denial events. From the "Supreme Leader" down, the denial of the Shoah is still being celebrated by the Iranian regime.

"In view of Austria’s special responsibility for combatting anti-Semitism" the Austrian government adopted the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism on April 25th in order to counter the hatred against Jews and Israel. Prior to that Vienna’s mayor Michael Häupl introduced the first monitoring committee on anti-Semitism at the city hall. Anti-semitic hatred, however, does not only exist in the milieu of neo-Nazis, fraternities or circles close to the FPÖ. For years anti-Semitic incidents occured during "Quds-Day" - we therefore call upon all anti-Fascist politicians in Vienna and upon civil society to join our alliance and to take a clear stand against "Quds-March"!

- Ban the anti-Semitic "Quds-March"!
- Solidarity with Israel! Against any form of anti-Semitism!
- Solidarity with the democratic and secular opposition in Iran and in exile!
- No state visits at and of Holocaust deniers!
- No business with the Iranian regime!

Broad alliance to protest against anti-Semitic "Quds"-march in Vienna on June 24th http://at.stopthebomb.net/index.php?id=358&L=1&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=3221&cHash=4a168995e40f32b4fb5b91f66f0c0fe8 "Quds"-organizer is official at Austria’s Religious Islamic Community IGGiÖ - Anti-Semitism and glorification of terror at core of "Quds-Day"
In the run-up to and during previous "Quds" demonstrations, which are gender-segregated and led by mullahs, anti-Semitic hate was openly expressed in public. In the past, the organizers posted an anti-Semitic cartoon in their social media channel that called for the murder of Jews and disseminated anti-Semitic conspiracy theories by claiming that Israel would "breed" the "Islamic State". The Austrian Ministry of Interior registered Hezbollah and jihad flags as well as anti-Semitic banners saying "Boycott the 4th Reich, Zionists = Nazis" and depicting a Star of David mutating into a swastika. In spite of his involvement in this anti-Semitic and terror glorifying events, Waldmann was able to stage himself next to IGGiÖ-President Ibrahim Olgun last week as a co-signer of a declaration "against terrorism and anti-Semitism."

"The central goal of the Iranian regime and its European supporters - Israel's destruction - has not changed since 1979. The allegedly 'moderate' Hassan Rouhani calls Israel a 'festering tumor'. The Iranian regime openly boasts about financing Hezbollah and Palestinian terror against Israel. 'Supreme Leader' Ali Khamenei and high-ranking regime officials again and again deny the Holocaust," explains Stephan Grigat, STOP THE BOMB’s Research Director.

A broad alliance of civil society and Members of Parliament Petra Bayr, Albert Steinhauser, Sigrid Maurer, Member of European Parliament Heinz K. Becker, Vienna City Council Members Peter Florianschütz, Birgit Hebein, Peter Kraus and members of various District Councils will come together to hold a rally "Together against any form of anti-Semitism! #NoQudsDay in Vienna" on Saturday, June 24th, from 3pm at Bundesländerplatz/Mariahilfer Straße. Apart from STOP THE BOMB, the alliance is supported by Vienna’s Jewish Community, the Green Students, Republikanischer Club - Neues Österreich, the Initiative against Anti-Semitism, the Kurdish Society for Education, Integration and Culture, as well as many other groups. ]]>

Secret visit to Iran: Austrian Finance Minister Schelling and Austrian National Bank Governor Nowotny cosying up to Iran’s Islamist regime http://at.stopthebomb.net/index.php?id=358&L=1&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=3218&cHash=dd265258c2325388093ce863ddb9bf91 Enormous Iran business risks remain for banks due to terror financing, money laundering and sanctions
U.S. and EU sanctions are still in place even after the nuclear deal, affecting Austrian banks and companies. A "snap-back" of the old sanctions has to be taken into account, as has the imposition of new sanctions. In April 2017, the U.S. State Department announced that Iran continues to sponsor terrorism, and that the nuclear deal would undergo a review. Given the control of the Iranian economy by the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), it has to assumed that foreign trade revenues are used for the expansion of the nuclear program and the financing of Iran’s terrorist activities (e.g. the financing of Hizbollah, Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad). Therefore a debate is currently taking place in the U.S. Congress on the the "IRGC Terrorist Sanctions Act of 2017" which is supported by both Democrats and Republicans.

"With intransparent visits and by doing business with the Iranian regime Austrian politicians, banks and companies support an Islamist dictatorship that is responsible for the highest number of executions per capita worldwide and an anti-Semitic regime that threatens to destroy Israel and engages in Holocaust denial. The Iranian regime destabilizes the entire Middle East by supporting terrorism in Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria and the Palestinian territories and is thereby co-responsible for the expulsion of millions of refugees," said Stefan Schaden, a spokesperson for STOP THE BOMB. ]]>

The lecture will show that the annihilation threats against Israel and the denial or relativization of the Shoah are inherent in the nature of the Iranian regime, irrespective of who is Iran’s President today. The lecture will also address the situation in Iran after the presidential elections and the significance of the regime's ideology for its expansion all the way up to Israel's border and its annual "Quds Day" rallies.

Stephan Grigat is a lecturer at the University of Vienna and in 2016/17 he was a visiting Professor at the Moses Mendelssohn Zentrum Potsdam. He is the author of "Die Einsamkeit Israels. Zionismus, die israelische Linke und die iranische Bedrohung".

This event is organized by STOP THE BOMB and supported by the Alliance against Quds-Day in Vienna, which is calling for a rally against "Quds-Day" on 24 June.]]>

STOP THE BOMB warns companies of dangers of doing business ahead of Austrian Economic Chamber’s Iran trip http://at.stopthebomb.net/index.php?id=358&L=1&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=3208&cHash=906e6acdcc13368066b42eedccf7709f Terror financing, human rights abuses and the Revolutionary Guards’ control of the economy among top risks
Due to Iran’s terrorist activities (e.g. the financing of Hizbollah, Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad), its involvement in money laundering, and because of the regime’s brutal human rights abuses, U.S. and EU sanctions are still in place even after the nuclear deal, affecting Austrian companies. While according to media reports last year U.S. authorities are investigating whether Bank Austria violated Iran sanctions, Raiffeisen and Oberbank still want to press ahead with their Iran business.

The U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives are currently working on new sanctions, like the "Terror-Free Skies Act" (addressing the support for terrorism by civil Iranian airlines like Iran Air, a codeshare partner of Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines) and the "IRGC Terrorist Sanctions Act of 2017", which would designate the IRGC in its entirety as a terrorist entity. The U.S. State Department announced that Iran continues to sponsor terrorism, and that the nuclear deal will undergo a review. In April the European Union announced the extension of existing Iran sanctions, including a ban on exports to Iran of "dual use" goods.

"By doing business with the Iranian regime companies support an Islamist dictatorship and an antisemitic regime that threatens to destroy Israel and whose 'Supreme Leader' denies the Holocaust. In Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria and the Palestinian territories, the Iranian regime destabilizes the Middle East and is co-responsible for the refugee wave to Europe. Under the supposedly reformist President Hassan Rouhani more Iranians have been executed than under his predecessor Ahmadinejad," says STOP THE BOMB’s Research Director Stephan Grigat. ]]>

Kazem Moussavi, an exiled Iranian activist whose Green Party of Iran is part of the STOP THE BOMB campaign, voices his criticism: "There are no objections to scientific cooperation with people from Iran. The reality shows, however, that scientific projects of Austrian universities and of OeAD, the Austrian agency for international mobility and cooperation, are based on exchange with the regime’s ideologically controlled universities, institutions, scientists and students."

Stephan Grigat, STOP THE BOMB’s Research Director points to the fact that partners of Austrian universities are involved in the Iranian regime’s promotion of Holocaust denial, as it was the case with a 2016 cartoon contest at the University of Isfahan, a partner university of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. "Austria’s Minister of Economy wants to ‚further deepen‘ the cooperation with a regime that - also under allegedly 'moderate' President Rouhani - openly threatens Israel with annihilation, and whose Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei - to this very day - questions the reality of the Holocaust." ]]>

Film: French and Persian with German subtitles
Where Islamist forces are in charge, be it via state power or via social pressure, women are obliged to mark themselves with a piece of clothing that emphasizes their inferior role in society. While women in the "Islamic Republic" of Iran have fought back against the forced veil in many ways, women in Western countries often tend to downplay or culturally relativize oppression. Fathiyeh Naghibzadeh will talk about the "phallocentric regime of the Mullahs" and its understanding of the "meaningful and precious role of a woman" in Islam, highlight the type of masculinity embodied in the regime’s repression apparatus and examine the relationship of this constellation towards the Iranian society. Nina Scholz will discuss the role of the headscarf and veiling as symbols of gender inequality and trademarks of Islamism. She will highlight the reactionary concepts of gender and society in some trends among Muslim feminists as well as recent identitarian feminists and shed a light on the worldwide rise of Islamism and the consequences for Europe. Before the discussion: Screening of "The Liberation Movement of Iranian Women - Year Zero", a short documentary filmed by French feminists about the mass demonstrations against the introduction of forced veiling in Tehran in 1979.
Fathiyeh Naghibzadeh took part in women’s demonstrations in March 1979 in Iran and later fled Iran 20 years ago. Today she lives in Berlin and is an exiled Iranian activist at the Mideast Freedom Forum Berlin and for the STOP THE BOMB campaign. She is the co-author of the books "Der Iran - Analyse einer islamischen Diktatur und ihrer europäischen Förderer“ and „Iran im Weltsystem. Bündnisse des Regimes und Perspektiven der Freiheitsbewegung".

Nina Scholz is a political scientist and author based in Vienna. Her research focuses on areas like National Socialism, antisemitism, Islam and human rights. According to Iranian regime media, the head of the Expediency Discernment Council and former President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani received Austria’s Deputy Parliament Speaker with a classic anti-Semitic notion and declared regarding Israel, that the "fabricated Zionist regime" is to blame for terrorism in the region.

Said Stephan Grigat, STOP THE BOMB’s Research Director: "Bad enough that Kopf pays his respect to the anti-Semitic ayatollahs and does not even say a word against the Iranian regime’s threats to wipe out Israel, which are also repeated under Rouhani. Also the chief of Iran’s Central Bank, Valiollah Seif, has arrived to Vienna, accompanied by a business delegation. According to Iranian regime media, Seif is set to meet National Bank of Austria Governor Ewald Nowotny and other banking officials today. International media reported that Austria’s Erste Bank, Raiffeisen and Oberbank resumed business with Iran, which is still a high risk due to existing U.S. sanctions. Meanwhile German intelligence reports warn of Iran’s illegal proliferation efforts for goods that can be used for nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles and even biological and chemical warfare capabilities.

Said STOP THE BOMB’s Research Director Stephan Grigat: "During a visit in 2013 Salehi openly threatened critics of the Iranian regime in Austria. In an interview with the Austrian daily 'Wiener Zeitung' Salehi urged critics like STOP THE BOMB to be 'cautious' or they 'could end up in problem situations'. This clearly shows that dialogue is impossible with representatives of this regime, which killed thousands of opposition members. It is both a reprehensible and shortsighted foreign policy that Austria embraces those who are working towards the destruction of the Jewish State, while at the same time Austrian Parliament Speaker Bures offers empty slogans about Austria’s historical responsibility during her visit to Israel."]]>

It is about time for Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka to finally take the dangers arising from Islamists close to the Iranian regime serious. In Germany, the “Quds Day” organizers are under observation by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. Vienna’s mayor Michael Häupl, who recently visited Tehran while the regime’s Holocaust denial contest was still on-going, has apparently adopted a soft line of cozying up towards Iran’s Islamist regime and remains silent on this biggest regularly held anti-Semitic demonstration in Vienna.

RALLY "No to Anti-Semitism! #noAlQuds
No Quds-Day in Vienna!“

Bundesländerplatz/Mariahilfer Straße, 1060 Vienna Shortly after the “Islamic Revolution” in Iran in 1979, Ayatollah Khomeini introduced the so-called “Quds Day” as a global hate fest to mobilize for the annihilation of the State of Israel. The “Day for the liberation of Jerusalem from Zionist occupation” – in other words the propaganda event for the destruction of Israel – is supposed to be held every year at the end of Ramadan.

A gender-segregated demonstration led by mullahs follows this call every year in Vienna, making it in one of the city’s biggest frequent anti-Semitic demonstrations. Disguised as “peaceful” they call for an end to Israel’s existence. This central goal of the Iranian regime – Israel’s annihilation – has not changed since 1979.

The Islamic Republic of Iran threatens to wipe out the world’s biggest Jewish community: Israel, which the alleged “reformer” Hassan Rouhani calls as “festering tumor”. In a missile test in March 2016, Iranian long-range ballistic missiles were marked with “Israel must be wiped out”. The Iranian regime boasts about financing Hezbollah and Palestinian terror against Israel.

The aggression of the Iranian regime is not exclusively directed at the Jewish State, however. Iran’s “Quds Brigades” commit cruel terror attacks worldwide. In Syria, the Iranian regime has a direct responsibility for the mass atrocities of his allied dictator Assad.

Subject to the regime’s bloody terror are also those Iranians who wish to evade the regimentation of their lives by the regime – be it political activists, unionists, homosexuals, religious minorities or just simply young people who want to live their lives in self-determination and without the Sharia’s constant coercion. Under Rouhani more people have been executed than under his predecessor Ahmadinejad – more than 2000 since August 2013. That is the highest number of executions per capita worldwide!

It is a scandal that Austria is still at the forefront when it comes to doing business with the henchmen in Tehran. Austrian politicians and companies are cozying up to the regime while their Iranian hosts organize even more Holocaust denial events. From the “Supreme Leader” down, the denial of the Shoah is still being celebrated by the Iranian regime.

There were also anti-Semitic incidents around last year’s “Quds-Day” in Vienna and before.

Vienna’s City Council meanwhile adopted the “Viennese Declaration for the Fight Against Anti-Semitism” which explicitly addresses all sorts of anti-Semitism. We therefore call upon all anti-Fascist politicians in Vienna and upon civil society to join our alliance and to take a clear stand against “Quds-March”!

Ban the anti-Semitic “Quds-March”!

Solidarity with Israel! Against all forms of anti-Semitism!

Solidarity with the democratic and secular opposition in Iran, in Syria and in exile!

No state visits at and of anti-Semitic regimes!

No business with Holocaust deniers!

For the full ban of the terror organization Hezbollah in Europe!

Stephan Grigat, STOP THE BOMB’s Research Director, condemned Häupl’s courtship of the Iranian regime: "According to human rights activists, Tehran’s mayor Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf was involved in massive human rights abuses as a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and took part in the crackdown on students. The organizer of the state-sponsored Holocaust denial exhibition, Massoud Shojai-Tabatabai, is a deputy Director for culture and arts at Tehran municipality. Although Häupl regularly swears 'Never Again!' at Holocaust memorial ceremonies, he now seems to be keen on getting into business with Iran’s anti-Semitic ayatollahs. We clearly call upon Vienna’s governing municipal coalition of Social Democrats and Greens to immediately stop the collaboration with the Iranian regime."]]>

First, U.S. sanctions against the Revolutionary Guards for Iran’s terrorism support and human rights abuses are still in place. And second, the Revolutionary Guards who control large parts of Iran’s economy and foreign trade are specialists in setting up front companies, which means that European companies can never really be sure not to engage in dealings with sanctioned entities.

The International Monetary Fund only yesterday criticized the lack of anti-money laundering and terrorism-financing laws in Iran. The U.N. and NGOs report nonstop about the deterioration of the anyway disastrous human rights situation in Iran. In such an environment OMV would violate the company’s very own code of conduct.

"Apart from legal and economic risks, companies must also expect reputational losses. As it was already pointed out last summer by Ariel Muzicant, Vice-President of the European Jewish Congress, European companies, which finance Iran’s terror with trade, will face legal action," warned Stephan Grigat, STOP THE BOMB’s Research Director.]]>

OMV bets on business with Iran’s terror mullahs and Holocaust deniers http://at.stopthebomb.net/index.php?id=358&L=1&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=3136&cHash=94b277792c009dac002519a62de68a58 STOP THE BOMB warns against high risks of terror financing, money laundering and complicity in human rights abuses
The partly state-owned OMV contradicts its own code of conduct, in which the company declares its commitment to human rights. According to the UN, soaring executions, floggings, amputation punishments, denied access to education and employment are still a reality in Iran. Homosexuality is still punishable by death.

STOP THE BOMB’s Research Director Stephan Grigat warns: "OMV must be ready to face the accusation that with their deals they support the brutal oppression of the Iranian population and the financing of Islamist terror organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah. Conducting business with the Iranian regime means to finance its policies, including the expansion in Syria, the nuclear and missiles programs and even events dedicated to Holocaust denial. A previous memorandum of understanding, which had been signed prior to the harsh sanctions against Iran, resulted in massive international protests".]]>

"By receiving Hassan Rouhani - a pillar of the regime for decades - Austria legitimizes the brutal crimes of the Iranian regime. Doing business with this regime means to finance its policies of oppression and persecution", explains Hiwa Bahrami, who is the spokesman of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) in Austria and Germany. PDKI leader Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou was murdered by the Iranian regime in Vienna in 1989.

Amnesty International reports about the wide-spread discrimination of Baha’is, Azeris, Baluchis, Kurds, Turkmen, Sunnis, members of the Ahwazi Arab community and other ethnic and religious minorities, i.e. concerning the access to housing, water, the labor market and education. Members of ethnic and religious minorities are more likely to face criminalization for vague charges like "enmity against God" and "corruption on earth" which are punishable by death.

Just a few weeks ago, it test-fired missiles marked with threats to wipe out Israel - missiles that are capable of reaching Tel Aviv and Jerusalem already today."

Daniel Kapp, speaker of the Austrian Friends of Israel, added: "President Heinz Fischer makes himself the willing helper of the anti-Semitic regime in Tehran, a regime that funds terrorism, openly stirs up hatred against Israel and Jews and even promotes a second Holocaust by threatening to annihilate Israel."

The documentary "Those Who Said No" (director Nima Sarvestani, Schweden/Germany 2014, Persian/English) tells the story of the Iran prison massacre in 1988: For the first time in history an international People’s Tribunal convenes in The Hague Court of Justice to investigate the mass executions of political prisoners in Iran during the 1980s. Survivors lead this fight for justice. Together they testify against a crime that has been kept secret from the world for over 25 years. Between 10.000 and 30.000 people were killed. Those responsible for these crimes now serve in high ranking position in the Iranian government. One prominent example is the "Minister of Justice" Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi.

Hundreds of thousands of people fleeing from the Middle East are currently looking for refuge in Europe. While the "Islamic State" and its atrocities get a lot of attention, hardly anyone wants to talk about the rest of those responsible for this drama: The Iranian regime and its allies Hezbollah and Assad. We will therefore highlight the role of Iran's policy of regional destabilization and support for Hezbollah and Assad in the Syrian drama. Further we will have a look at why people also continue to flee from Iran itself while the West is cosying up to the regime and calls it "moderate". Is it really a good idea to form an alliance with Assad and Iran against ISIS, so to say with the "Islamic Republic" against the "Islamic State", as some German and Austrian policymakers demand? And what is the connection to the Iran deal and Russia's intervention?

There is an especially high demand for cranes in the country, Austria’s Press Agency APA quoted him say. The Salzburg based company does not seem to have any problem at all with the fact that this high demand is due to the mass executions taking place in Iran at the moment. According to Amnesty International, the regime has executed at least 700 people in 2015.

STOP THE BOMB spokesperson Stefan Schaden explains: "Palfinger is one example, which clearly shows, that Austrian companies do not care at all about the disastrous human rights situation when it comes to doing business in Iran. In fact they support the regime and its inhuman policies as long as it serves their profit interests. The Austrian Economic Chamber WKO and Austrian politics in general encourage this attitude with the planned visit to Iran of Austrian President Heinz Fischer, Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz, Economy Minister Reinhold Mitterlehner and WKO President Christoph Leitl. While European companies rush into business with the Iranian regime, the Iranian population is thrown under the bus as the regime is enabled to continue with its brutal oppression." Stefan Schaden, spokesperson for STOP THE BOMB in Austria, sharply criticizes the event: "70 years after the Shoah, Austrian and German companies are in the first row to boost business ties with the anti-Semitic Iranian regime. While the implementation of the nuclear deal has not even started and the sanctions on Iran are still in place, Austria’s WKO beats the big drum for increasing trade with the Holocaust deniers and Israel haters in Iran."

Stock-im-Eisen-Platz, 1010 Vienna, Austria

In Mid-July, Islamists and Anti-Semites in Vienna will mark the so-called “Quds Day” yet another time like in other cities worldwide. Introduced in 1979 after the “Islamic Revolution” in Iran by Ayatollah Khomeini, the “Day for the liberation of Jerusalem from Zionist occupation” – i.e. the propaganda event for the destruction of Israel – is to be held annually after the end of Ramadan. A gender-segregated demonstration led by Mullahs will follow this call in Vienna in one of the city’s biggest anti-Semitic demonstrations. Disguised as “peaceful” they call for an end to Israel’s existence. This central goal of the Iranian regime - Israel’s annihilation - has not changed since 1979.

At „Quds March“, the flag of the organization responsible for numerous deadly terror attacks worldwide especially against Jews will be on display: the flag of Hezbollah. Last year Austria’s Ministry of the Interior registered banners saying “Boycott the 4th Reich Zionists = Nazis” with a Star of David turning into a swastika.

Meanwhile the City Council of Vienna adopted the “Viennese Declaration for the Fight Against Anti-Semitism” which explicitly addresses all sorts of anti-Semitism. We therefore call upon all anti-Fascist politicians in Vienna and the civil society to join our alliance and to take a clear stand against “Quds-March”!

While the fans of the Iranian regime march in Vienna, nothing substantial has improved in smiling President Hassan Rouhani’s Iran. The number of executions has dramatically increased under his presidency. Homosexuality is still punishable by death. Misogynous laws aim to reduce women to baby-making machines. Rouhani, who said Israel is an “old wound on the body of Islam”, takes usually part in Tehran’s “Quds-March” like his predecessors. Even during the nuclear talks a high-ranking Iranian general declared “Israel’s destruction” is “nonnegotiable”. A couple of days after the Lausanne agreement, the regime proudly announced the high number of participants in their Holocaust cartoon contest. And just recently a top advisor to the “Supreme Leader” Ali Khamenei loudly proclaimed that “Iran has the divine permission to destroy Israel”.

By boosting both trade and political cooperation, European countries like Austria have enabled the Iranian regime for the last 36 years to continue with its nuclear and missiles programs - programs that now the West seems ready to accept. In a move to get business back on track, Austria’s President Heinz Fischer plans to travel to Iran and visit the anti-Semitic regime as the first EU head of state since 2005. Whoever is doing business with this regime, however, finances the propaganda of the rulers in Tehran, their regional expansion and the oppression of the Iranian population. The aggression of the Iranian regime, whose „Supreme Leader“ has time and again questioned the historical reality of the Holocaust, is not only directed against the Jewish State. Subject to its bloody terror are also those Iranians who wish to evade the regimentation of their lives by the regime – be it political activists, unionists, homosexuals, religious minorities or just simply youth who want to live their lives in self-determination and without the Sharia’s constant coercion.

Solidarity with the freedom movement in Iran and the secular opposition in Iran and in exile!
Solidarity with Israel! Against all forms of anti-Semitism!
No state visits at anti-Semitic regimes!
No business deals with Holocaust deniers!
For a total ban of the terror organization Hezbollah in Europe!

Protest Against „Quds-March“ of Iranian Regime Supporters in Vienna http://at.stopthebomb.net/index.php?id=358&L=1&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=3036&cHash=d50bb6f7f3603d5686fe2506cf292e65 STOP THE BOMB supports counter rally „Together Against Anti-Semitism“ on July 11th
Quds-Day was established by the Iranian regime in 1979 to mobilize for Israel’s annihilation and is today organized in major cities around the world. In Vienna, the organizers are linked to Imam-Ali-Mosque in the 6th district. Meanwhile, allegedly "moderate" Iranian President Rouhani took part in today’s Quds-March in Tehran, where the crowds chanted "Death to Israel". At last year's Quds-March, Rouhani called Israel an "old wound". Just a couple of days ago, Ex-President and now chairman of the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, declared a "moderate" by the West, said that Israel would soon be "wiped off the map". And the Iranian Revolutionay Guards reaffirmed that the destruction of Israel has the "highest priority".

Stephan Grigat explains: "Quds-Day shows the anti-Semitic character of the Iranian regime. It must not remain unchallenged when supporters of such an ideology march through Vienna. Also the P5+1 who are currently negotiating with the Iranian rulers about the nuclear program have to understand, that nothing has changed when it comes to the annihilation threats against Israel, to the inhumane practices of the regime and its expansionist moves in the region.“ ]]>

Negotiating Toward the Bomb? http://at.stopthebomb.net/index.php?id=358&L=1&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=3010&cHash=688341308d1e8e17cf8cf3da4851b5bd The Iranian Regime & the Western Iran Policy Note: Event will be held in German

Following the contradicting Lausanne declarations by the P5+1 and the Iranian regime in April there was much talk of a „historic agreement“ that would offer a good solution for the ayatollahs’ problematic nuclear weaponization efforts. Critics pointed out, however, that an agreement based on the Lausanne arrangements would leave Iran’s nuclear infrastructure intact and be tantamount to the West’s surrender to Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. This panel discussion will therefore focus on the prerequisites and consequences of the nuclear talks: What would be the alternative to a bad agreement? What happened to Rouhani’s promises of „reform“ and the charm offensive directed at the West? What is the significance of continued annihilation threats, Holocaust denial and the Western Iran policy for Israel? What does the regional expansion of the Iranian regime mean in the shadow of the nuclear negotiations?

Raimund Fastenbauer, the Jewish Community’s Secretary General, declares: "Whoever negotiates with the ayatollahs, but ignores the Supreme Leader Ali Khamanei’s Holocaust denial, has already fallen for Hassan Rouhani’s and Mohammad Zarif’s charm offensive. And whoever ignores the permanently repeated Iranian annihilation threats against Israel is actually putting up the Jewish State’s existence for negotiation." Regarding the nuclear talks, Stephan Grigat of STOP THE BOMB adds: "A deal, which leaves the infrastructure of the nuclear and missiles programs intact, institutionalizes the dangers arousing from these programs permanently. The policy of appeasement toward the Iranian regime enables its regional expansion in the Middle East." Hiwa Bahrami, representative of the PDKI in Germany and Austria, calls for the support of the Iranian opposition: "It is like a stab in the back of the democratic and secular opposition in Iran and in exile to recognize regime figures as legitimate negotiating partners while the same regime executes more people under Rouhani than under Ahmadinejad."

What is especially worrying is that this delegation makes a mockery of the EP’s own resolution of March which stressed that more constructive relations with Iran are contingent on progress in the full (!) implementation of Iran’s commitments under the Joint Plan of Action and human rights (!!) issues. Said Stefan Schaden, a spokesperson for STOP THE BOMB: "A visit at this time is therefore totally inappropriate and undermines the pressure on the Iranian regime with the deadline looming for the nuclear talks. While Rouhani and Foreign Minister Zarif keep smiling for their European audience, an execution wave has resumed inside Iran, punishments like eye-gouging and amputations are carried out, the persecution of homosexuals has continued and new laws aim to reduce women to baby-making machines. We therefore demand the cancellation of this trip."]]>

As a matter of fact, no agreement with Iran has been "concluded", let alone signed. A future "Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action" is still to be negotiated based on the Lausanne declarations, which involved very different interpretations by the U.S., France, the EU and Iran. The only clear thing is that grave differences persist, especially concerning the lifting of sanctions.

The Iranian economy, and foreign trade in particular, is to a great extent under state control of a regime which massively oppresses its own citizens, denies the Holocaust, threatens Israel with annihilation, executes homosexuals, is a global sponsor of terror and hinders international shipping as it turned out last week with Iran’s attack against Maersk Tigris. It is highly irritating that such a regime would be a preferred trading partner for the Austrian Chamber. STOP THE BOMB activists will therefore be on the spot in front of the WKO seminar’s venue and inform the participants about the character of the Iranian regime and the dangers of doing business with this regime.]]>

"Austria’s head of state obviously does not see any problem in rewarding a regime, whose 'Supreme Leader' Ali Khamenei continuously questions the reality of the Holocaust, with a state visit. Right now the Iranian regime is yet again sponsoring a Holocaust cartoon contest in Tehran. Holocaust denial is a criminal act by Austrian law. Which kind of a signal would that be for Holocaust survivors and anti-Fascist activists in Austria, if the President legitimized international Holocaust deniers by paying a state visit? So where is the criticism of self-declared anti-Fascist parties in Austria? Where is the outcry of the anti-Fascist civil society? When Austrian politicians swear 'Never again!' at Holocaust memorial ceremonies these days, but remain silent on the anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial of the Iranian regime, it becomes clear that these are empty words," said Stefan Schaden, the spokesperson for STOP THE BOMB in Austria.]]>

Anti-Semitism is a central element in the ideology of the Iranian regime. In a classic projection of his own global craving for power, revolutionary leader Khomeini believed that he had to combat the establishment of the “Jewish world state” imagined by him in his essay The Islamic State. Iranian anti-Semitism is a modern ideology working with anti-modern content and modern means.

The talk describes how the Jews living in Iran today are a minority suffering from systematic discrimination. It analyzes the Holocaust denial by prominent figures in the Iranian regime and discusses the inflammatory Protocols of the Elders of Zion translated into Farsi in 1978. It shows how Iranian propaganda against the “Zionists” is framed in the conspiracy-theory rhetoric of classic anti-Semitism.

Stephan Grigat, STOP THE BOMB’s Research Director who will chair the event, stresses the importance of the issues raised in the lecture: "As a result of the negotiations with the Iranian regime, there is hardly any discussion going on about the regime’s very character. But for an assessment of the Lausanne conclusions it is essential to become aware of the Iranian regime’s anti-Semitism. Only a few days after Lausanne, exponents of the regime proudly boasted about the high number of entries in their Holocaust cartoon contest. Among them are many Europeans, for instance one participant with the pseudonym 'Cyclone B' from Switzerland."

While the Iranian regime is currently negotiating for getting closer to a nuclear bomb, it also found a promising way to boost the export of its Shia terror, which it has already been promoting for more than 30 years, under a new label: the "fight against terror". Given the confrontation with the "Islamic State", the "Islamic Republic" has successfully reshaped its image in the international and regional arenas. The U.S. have a de facto cooperation with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in the fight against ISIS. The lecture will highlight the role of the Iranian rulers both in the destabilization of Iraq and the strengthening of Sunni Islamists. Which role has the Iranian alliance with Assad? What consequences will the cooperation in fighting ISIS have for the conflict over the Iranian nuclear program? And what does the Western policy of appeasement and cooperation with the ayatollahs mean for the Iranian opposition and dissidents in other countries of the region?

The nuclear negotiations began in 2003 and originally had the goal of dissuading Iran from the military dimension of its nuclear program. This goal has been deemed to be unrealistic in November 2013. Since the Geneva Interim deal negotiations have only aimed at extending the "breakout" time Iran would need to produce enough fissile material for a nuclear weapon, should it decide to do so.

STOP THE BOMB Europe spokesperson Michael Spaney comments: "The strategy to reach a comprehensive deal with Iran has failed. Concessions and the gain of time have made the Iranian regime a nuclear threshold power. Western states must now take appropriate action: Only sanctions after 2012 brought the Iranian regime to the negotiating table. We need new economic and diplomatic sanctions against the Islamic Republic in order to avert the danger of a nuclear bomb in the hands of a regime that denies the Holocaust."

In November 2013, the P5+1 powers made substantial concessions to reach a negotiated deal. 4.2 billion USD have since been released from frozen assets. Sanctions in the petrochemical, automotive and precious metals sectors have been scaled back.

Spaney states: "The fatal mistake is not to judge the Iranian regime for what it does, but for what the powers would have liked it to do. Since Rohani’s inauguration there is no sign of a more moderate policy, on the contrary: The number of executions has increased dramatically. On November 9th, supreme leader Khamenei has published another plan to destroy Israel. Iranian media openly praise missile shipments to Hamas and Hezbollah. The regime has intensified its intervention in Syria, and its allies marched into the capital of Yemen."

STOP THE BOMB founding member Fathiyeh Naghibzadeh analyses the regional consequences: "The appeasement towards the arsonists in Tehran has strengthened the hardliners and caused a terrible inferno in Syria and Iraq. The Iranian and Syrian opposition, moderate Muslims, the minorities in the region and Israel are the main victims of this policy. The West must decide where it stands: on the side of the Iranian Islamists and their allies, or on the side of democratic and moderate forces in the Middle East. Taking both sides is impossible."]]>

A Nuclear Iran Must Be Prevented! http://at.stopthebomb.net/index.php?id=358&L=1&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=2936&cHash=50dd72cbeab7a35df8ea346727375e00 STOP THE BOMB warns against a bad nuclear deal
Emily Landau, head of the Arms Control and Regional Security Program at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv, warns: "In light of the concessions that have already been offered by the P5+1 to Iran, further significant P5+1 concessions would result in a 'bad deal'. This outcome is dangerous not only because it means that Iran will not be far from the ability to produce nuclear weapons at a time of its choosing, but that this very dangerous situation will be granted legitimacy by the international community, by virtue of their signing on to the deal. Which they will of course present not as a 'bad deal', but rather as 'the best we could get'. Regarding the extension option, the danger here is that it increases commitment to reaching a final deal, which will still necessitate further problematic P5+1 concessions, and on the most problematic issues. This spells significant loss of P5+1 leverage in the bargaining process with Iran, in the final critical stretch. After securing partial agreement, they will more than ever not want this chance of getting almost any deal to slip away."

Journalist Saba Farzan points out to the more than dire human rights record: "It is understandable that the world focuses on the immense brutality of ISIS, but it shouldn't be forgotten that in Khamenei's Iran systematic and brutal human rights violations - like torture and a massive number of executions - are committed as well. A massacre in slow motion is happening in front of our eyes while Rouhani and Zarif tweet nicely." Hiwa Bahrami, who represents the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan in Austria and Germany, puts it bluntly: "You cannot negotiate with the ayatollahs, you have to sanction them. Any attempts to include them in constructive solutions in the Middle East are naive and dangerous."]]>

With the rally STOP THE BOMB wants to warn against a rotten deal over the Iranian nuclear program. Said Stefan Schaden, spokesperson for STOP THE BOMB in Austria: „Any deal that would leave the infrastructure of the nuclear program intact will permanently institutionalize the dangers“. Schaden also warns against ignoring the character of the Iranian regime: „The ‚Supreme Leader‘ of the regime denies the reality of the Holocaust and time and again threatens Israel with annihilation. Whoever ignores this has already fallen for Rouhani’s charm offensive. Just at the beginning of October there was again a meeting of Holocaust deniers and regime officials in Tehran.“

The panel discussion on the conceptual classification of Islamism and the Iranian regime will take place in room C2 at Vienna University Campus. The speakers are Gerhard Scheit (political scientist), Heiko Heinisch (historian), Joern Schulz (journalist) and Stephan Grigat (STOP THE BOMB).]]>

Iran Investment Conference in London is Premature and Harms Prospects for Peace http://at.stopthebomb.net/index.php?id=358&L=1&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=2915&cHash=1c38217c213d93f58005aa61cf76d0cf German-Iranian Chamber of Commerce and British Economist Group undermine Western position in the nuclear negotiations with Iran Henry Jackson Society
Berlin / London / Vienna, October 9th, 2014

The European-wide campaign STOP THE BOMB and the transatlantic think tank The Henry Jackson Society have jointly denounced the "1st Europe-Iran Forum" in London, which aims to comprehensively expand European trade with Iran. The conference will take place in London on 15-16 October and is supported by the office of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. The conference brings together Iranian lobbyists, European companies and free-market proponents from the media and the political spheres. In doing so the congress threatens the international efforts to stop the Iranian nuclear weapons programme. Davis Lewin, Deputy Director at The Henry Jackson Society commented: "Negotiations with Iran are at a critical stage, and the signs are not encouraging - Iran has been unyielding over several key aspects of it's nuclear programme, including some of the most troubling aspects such as access to the sites suspected of being used for weaponisation tests. Europe's scramble to do business with this regime is thus not only premature, but rather events such as these hinder progress to a peaceful resolution because they decrease the price Iran has to pay for its dangerous actions. It is disappointing to see this event take place in London, when the British government is a leader in Europe in working to stem the threat from Tehran's illegal nuclear programme". The event takes place against the backdrop of faltering nuclear negotiations with Iran. Alongside the British Economist Group, the event will be hosted by the German-Iranian Chamber of Commerce, which has long been committed to lobbying for an unconditional end of sanctions against the Iranian regime. The London event comes as Tehran – just a few days ago – hosted an anti-Semitic conference with international Holocaust deniers. STOP THE BOMB’s European spokesman Michael Spaney asserted: "President Rouhani is not a reformer – the number of executions in Iran have continued to increase during his presidency. Nor is the Iranian regime a stabilising partner in the Middle East – it bears major responsibility for years of destabilisation in Iraq and the consequential spread of Islamic State terror. The actions of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah terrorists against the Syrian population are just as brutal as those committed by Islamic State. This congress is a reward for Iran’s terrorism." The STOP THE BOMB campaign and the Henry Jackson Society are supporting a protest rally on the morning of 15 October, which will be taking place in front of the London Marriot Hotel in Grosvenor Square, where the "1st Europe-Iran Forum" is to be hosted.

Call for a manifestation against Quds Day in Vienna

On 25/26 July, the so-called “Quds Day” will be marked yet another time in Vienna like in other cities. Introduced in 1979 after the “Islamic Revolution” in Iran by Ayathollah Khomeini, the “Day for the liberation of Jerusalem from Zionist occupation” – i.e. the propaganda event for the destruction of Israel – is to be held annually after the end of Ramadan. A gender-segregated demonstration led by Mullahs will head this call in Vienna, too. At this occasion, the flag of the organization responsible for numerous deadly terror attacks worldwide especially against Jews will be carried: the flag of Hezbollah.

Under the cover of a “peaceful use” of nuclear energy, Teheran has been busy to build the nuclear bomb which is to seal the fate of Israel. The European states – notably Austria – have been the ones whose political cooperation for the past 30 years and whose continued trade with the Iranian regime put the Ayathollahs into the very position where they could carry on with their nuclear program, their propaganda and their oppression of the Iranian people.

The aggressions of the Iranian regime, which has been hosting conferences for Holocaust denial and which is present in Vienna not only with its embassy, but also with the embassy’s “cultural department” in Schottenfeldgasse and the Imam Ali Mosque in Mollardgasse, are not directed exclusively against the Jewish state. Subject to its bloody terror are also those Iranians who wish to evade the regimentation of their lives by the regime – be it political activists, unionists, homosexuals, religious minorities or just simply youth who want to live their lives in self-determination and without the Sharia’s constant coercion.

In 2009, the accumulated anger against this oppression of individual happiness erupted in mass protests against the regime. Millions of people brought the “Islamic Republic” to the brink of defeat. They embarrassed the state-organized hatred of Israel by replacing the Islamist slogans for the annihilation of Israel with dissident slogans like “Putin, Chávez, Nasrallah, you are the real enemies of Iran” and “Neither Gaza (i.e. Hamas) nor Lebanon (i.e. Hezbollah), our lives for Iran”; slogans like “Marg bar jomhuriye eslami” (“Down with the Islamist Republic!”) were aimed directly against the regime. It was the silence of the West and the resulting betrayal of the Iranian freedom movement, amongst other factors, that helped the dictatorship of Ayathollahs survive these protests.

In addition to the Revolutionary Guards, Hezbollah also participated significantly in the murderous counter-insurgency operations. The yellow-green flag of the “Party of God” is carried at the annual Quds Day rallies in Austria as well. Hezbollah was founded with massive support from Iran in the 1980ies to serve as an offshoot of the “Islamic Revolution” in Lebanon, and receives financial funding by the regime in Teheran until this day. Even after the terrorist attack in Burgas (Bulgaria) in 2012, where five Israeli tourists and a Bulgarian bus driver were murdered, the EU has not been able to bring itself to blacklisting Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.

On 26 July, we will demonstrate against the Islamist propaganda rally in solidarity with those revolting in Iran and in the hope that the graveyard silence sustained by executions, torture and “virtue terror” will end soon. We demand:

No Quds Day in Vienna and elsewhere!

Solidarity with the Iranian freedom movement and the secular opposition in Iran and in exile!

Solidarity with Israel! Against all forms of anti-Semitism!

Entire Hezbollah on the EU terror list! For tougher and consistent sanctions against the Iranian regime!

No business relations with anti-Semitic regimes and movements!

Protest Against Anti-Israel March in Vienna on July 26 http://at.stopthebomb.net/index.php?id=358&L=1&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=2893&cHash=52e44cd142c557630bb12055acf65f6d Broad Alliance to Rally Against Iran-Sponsored Quds-Day
Quds-Day was introduced in 1979 by Ayatollah Khomeini to call for the annihilation of Israel. Every year since at the end of Ramadan Shiite Islamists and their sympathizers around the world march for the extermination of the Jewish State.

Stefan Schaden, spokesperson for STOP THE BOMB in Austria, underlines the need to protest given the current situation: „Israel is currently being attacked from Gaza by Islamist terror groups which are close allies of the Iranian regime. Hamas and Islamic Jihad are able to escalate the situation because of the massive armament by Tehran.“ Stephan Grigat, Scientific Director of STOP THE BOMB, points to the continuity of the Iranian regime’s antisemitism: „Also under the purportedly ‚moderate‘ President Rouhani the rulers in Tehran have called for Israel’s annihilation. The ‚Supreme Leader‘ Ali Khamenei again questioned the reality of the Holocaust on occasion of the Iranian New Year.“

On Thursday, July 24, 7pm, Lindengasse 40, Vienna, the Alliance will be hosting a lecture (in German) on the backgrounds of Quds-Day and the character of the Iranian regime. The speakers will be Heribert Schiedel (Documentation Centre of Austrian Resistance), Soma Mohammad Assad (political scientist) and Stephan Grigat. Said Stephan Grigat, Scientific Director of STOP THE BOMB: "We are dealing with a regime, whose 'supreme leader' again even during the negotiations questioned the Holocaust, which executes even more people than under Ahmadinejad and which heavily arms its terror proxies in Gaza and Lebanon for their war against Israel. If there really has to be an agreement with such a regime, some minimal demands must be considered: The complete, permanent and verifiable cessation of uranium enrichment, the removal of stockpile of enriched uranium outside Iran, the closure of the underground facility in Fordow, the dismantlement of centrifuges in Natanz and the complete halt of construction of the Arak heavy water reactor. Inspections must take place not only in declared nuclear facilities but also for example at the Parchin military complex. The IAEA suspects that decisive experiments for the development of nuclear weapons took place at that site. The missiles program which aims to develop a carrier for nuclear warheads must be stopped completely. Without the implementation of these demands, the Iranian regime will always have a nuclear option."]]>

In cooperation with TOP KINO and this human world The fact of the brutal oppression of women in the Iranian theocracy is generally acknowledged but still whitewashed in many respects. Due to its classification as "patriarchal" this specific oppression is misjudged and belittled. The lecture will provide a historical overview and comparison to highlight the differences between pre-modern patriarchy, male domination during the Shah’s modernizing dictatorship and the phallocentric regime of the Mullahs. The discussion will focus on the Iranian regime’s understanding of the "meaningful and precious role of a woman" in Islam, the type of masculinity embodied in the regime’s repression apparatus and on the relationship of this constellation towards the Iranian society. Before the lecture there will be a screening of "The Liberation Movement of Iranian Women - Year Zero", a short documentary by French feminists about the mass demonstrations against the introduction of forced veiling in 1979.

Meanwhile the nuclear talks have resumed in Vienna and there is a legitimate concern that they will lead to the acceptance of the Iranian nuclear weapons program. The Iranian regime continues with its tactics of dividing the P5+1 and buying time. Said Stephan Grigat, Scientific Director of STOP THE BOMB: "The only result of these negotiations has so far been that the Iranian regime had months to advance its nuclear weapons and missiles programs."

While the Iranian regime presents itself as a decent negotiating partner, STOP THE BOMB will educate the public on the regime’s brutal oppression of women.
